Good morning WOYWWers! Have you all had a fabulous Jubilee weekend?? We did!! Although, being in Scotland, we were somewhat outnumbered. NOBODY else in our street put out bunting or had a party, so come the revolution I expect we'll be the first to be dragged from our beds and shot. Oh well, we will die happy. LOL. I am, of course, assuming that you - my dear reader - are actually in the UK? If you're not from the UK, tell me what have you been celebrating in your area this weekend? There must be a celebration somewhere!! Answers on a post card please... or even better, in the comments box. (The dreaded Word Verification should be switched off now.)
Now, you came here to see my desk right?? Here it is....
Ah yes, not as messy as usual but that is only because I had to interrupt one project (and do a mini tidy) to do something else. So my (now belated) Jubilee wreath got interrupted to make a birthday card; and since I already had red, white and blue out on the desk I've been using it to make the card too!
I know my wreath is now too late for the Jubilee but I have decided to finish it off as I can think of a few upcoming occasions that I could use it for. I'm thinking maybe Olympics? or, if I put some poppies on it, Armistice Day? I'll have to see. Also, I have set myself a goal that I hope to achieve in the next year or two and when I get there I want to throw a big Union Jack party so it will definitely do for that!
Perhaps, oneday, when I've achieved the first stage of my goal and am a bit more confident of achieving it I'll actually pluck up the courage to share it with you. For now, I'm just in the first stage of having decided I want to go for it and still feeling a little bit nervous. I promise I'll let you into the secret soon! All I can say, for now, is that I'm going to have to study hard for a bit. Not my favourite thing to do, but needs must!
Now, that's my tale for the day. If you want to come back tomorrow I shall be putting up pics of our (very small) Jubilee celebrations from this weekend. For now though, head over to Julia's blog for more WOYWW desks and possibly more tales of Jubilee celebrations!
Speak soon!
Hi Anthea...wish MY desk could get a wee tidy up... can't see that happening anytime soon though lol..
ReplyDeleteYep! I'm in a 'wee toon' sandwiched between Falkirk and Stirling, so I'm not too far away from you. I haven't been into Cumnbernauld proper for many years, Only seem to ever manage the Tesco's for petrol when my ex husband comes up to visit the teenager! lol
A wee mini meet would be great! I don't get much chance to meet with crafty friends so I'll get a chance to get all girlie and have a right good natter over a coffee or something!
There's a new Hobbycrafts store opening up in Falkirk in july I think so maybe we could arrange a day out for that? Will let you know the details if your are interested?
Take care and thanks for dropping by,
I'm in the states and no celebration here this week but it looks like you had quite the party on the other side of the pond! Lovely wreath. Happy WOYWW! Tammy #95
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a celebration here in the USA this past weekend, but celebrated Memorial Day in honor of our veterans two weekends ago :)

Oh you did make me laugh about the revolution - hey, cheer up, the zombie apocalypse may happen before that! But while we wait for that I thought I'd share a status from my very Scottish friend's FB page: "Don't know about the rest of you guys but the Queens Diamond Jubilee was awesome. I don't think it's important to acknowledge myself as only Scottish, but also as British. No matter if one man would see this, 'our United Kingdom', forever divided in two. It is days like these that should bring us forever together as One United Kingdom." See, you weren't alone - you just didn't know it ;)
ReplyDeleteThe wreath is shaping up to be pretty amazing too :)

Hi Anthea - What a great idea to make a patriotic wreath! I was intrigued to read about your secret goals and look forward to finding out more. Good luck with it whatever it is. WOYWW Hugs from Helen 105
ReplyDeleteI went with the majority up here in Fife and did nothing ...shame as i was around when she was crowned but although my blood is rich in Fifers gone by, my voice is that of a londoner so I didn't want to be lynched if I put out flags or banners lol...after all the English have a lot to answer for when you look back in history. So glad you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteGreat desk this week! Love all the red white and blue!

Super tidy and a great wreath,I watched the celebrations but set up a little colouring table while watching tv, as you'll see if you pop by mine! Take care my WOYWW friend, am still snooping! Zo xx 65
ReplyDeleteYay that you enjoyed the Jubilee = we had huge fun down here and really celebrated for the four days. Like the look of your wreath - it'll be fab to use it for the Olympics too. Let's be proud of being British rather than running ourselves down!
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ #70 xx
Just love all your organization! It pleases my silly container loving heart! :)

How late am I?! Love your Jubilee Wreath, what a great idea....we were away until Monday so missed most of it. Nevertheless, my bunting and other bits are now up in anticipation of winning the Euro football (!!) and the Olympics...we have the flame coming past too, so I see no reason not to decorate.
ReplyDeleteApologies for being so late visiting but as they say better late than never eh?
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks so tidy but obviously full of creativity. The wreath is amazing ;D
We had all the jubilee celebrations televised here in Melbourne which was brilliant. I didn't feel like I missed anything. All the Ozzies I know were singing the praises of the pomp and pagentary...no-one does it like the Brits!
If you nip over to my place you might be interested in joining in with my first 'giveaway'.
Have a great week! Neesie #7
